Course of Study

You can view the slides from the Welcome Session and the presentation of the degree program HERE. If you have a confirmed place, you must register for the corresponding CAS exam. As a rule, these are only activated for registration at the beginning of the semester. Instructions on how to register for examinations in CAS are available at the same location.
Instructions for Exam RegistrationModule selection summer semester 2026
Voting period and allocation of places
The election is open from 12.03. to 24.03.2026 at 23:59. The registration period has no influence on the allocation of places. Please note that only two research modules may be selected in two different blocks. The allocation of places is purely algorithmic, the semester you are in is irrelevant.
Notes on longitudinal subjects
If you choose a longitudinal subject, you no longer have to choose research modules. It is only possible to start a longitudinal subject in the summer semester. Longitudinal subjects run over the entire semester (not in a block) and cannot be combined with research modules. A longitudinal subject comprises 23 credit points and covers a complete area - it is therefore equivalent to two research modules and one project module.
Field placements
A special, interdisciplinary form of the research modules are the large field placements , which extend over two semesters. There are four different excursions to choose from, which take place in the summer semester :
- Marine Biology Giglio. This mainly zoological field placement takes place between 21 and 29 August2026.
- Marine Biology Helgoland. In 2027, the zoological-botanical field internship will be offered alternately to Helgoland.
- Annual field internship in the Alps. A predominantly botanically oriented excursion to the Alps is expected to take place in the period 19-25.07.2026 .
- Annual regional field courseon vegetation and landscape development in Baden-Württemberg.
The associated lecture takes place in the preceding winter semester . The selection and allocation of places takes place before the start of the winter semester.
Distribution and allocation of modules
The research modules or longitudinal subjects are automatically distributed centrally via Campus+ according to your choice. The lists of participants are then sent to the respective institutes, which offer limited places. The individual prioritization of students is not published.
Swapping modules
It is possible to swap modules. To do this, you needan exchange partnerfrom another module. Please contact both module coordinators together and discuss the swap directly with them.
Deregistration of modules
If you do not want to or cannot take a module that has been allocated to you, please inform the respective provider immediately. It is important not to block any places unnecessarily, as otherwise interested students will not be able to take them.
Additional services
If you have already completed all the required modules as part of your degree course, but would like to take an additional module as an extra credit, do not select this module via Campus+, but contact the respective provider directly. To do this, please complete the application for admission to a course or examination in an additional subject .
When can I only choose ONE F2?
If you are in the Master's preference or have already completed five research modules, you may ONLY choose ONE module via the Campus+ portal. However, you can also apply directly to the providers for additional modules. The prerequisite for the Master's preference is that you have achieved 120 credit points and have submitted the form to register for the Master's preference.

The Elections are open from 12.03. to 24.03.2026, 23:59
