Application for extension of the study period
If not all coursework and examinations (including the final thesis) are completed within the respective maximum study period (B.Sc.: 10 subject-specific semesters, B.Ed.: 11 subject-specific semesters, M.Sc.: 8 subject-specific semesters, M.Ed.: 7 subject-specific semesters), the application for an extension of the study period must be submitted no later than six weeks before the end of the relevant examination period(B.Sc.: 10th subject-specific semester, SPO § 8 para. 3; B.Ed.: 11th subject-specific semester, SPO § 8 para. 3; M.Sc.: 8th subject-specific semester, SPO § 9; M.Ed.: 7th subject-specific semester, SPO § 9 para. 1 (major subject) or SPO § 9 para. Before submitting the application, a personal consultation hour with the Dean of Studies, Studies Dean Prof. Dr. Jörg Kämper is mandatory. The application for an extension of the study period must then be submitted informally to the Dean of Studies, Studies Dean. The application must be submitted by email to biologiestudium∂chem-bio.kit.edu.
Application for recognition of an examination or completed coursework, study achievement
Students can apply for recognition of achievements after enrolment. This applies to achievements from a previous course of study (possibly with placement in a higher subject-specific semester/ term), from previous vocational training and from a stay abroad. For all of the above recognition cases, the recognition formmust be completed and sent to biologiestudium∂chem-bio.kit.edu together with the relevant credentials.
Application for extension of the deadline for the orientation examination
Depending on the chosen field of study according to § 3 para. 7
- in the case of the "General Biology" field of study, the module examinations in the "Structure and Function of Life" module
- in the case of "Applied Biology ", the module examinations in the module "Structural-Functional Aspects of Biological Application"
by the end of the examination period of the second semester. Before submitting the application, a personal consultation hour with the Dean of Studies, Studies Dean Prof. Dr. Jörg Kämper is mandatory. The completed application for an extension of the orientation examination deadline must then be sent to biologiestudium∂chem-bio.kit.edu.
Application to extend the examination deadline for the bachelor's thesis
The bachelor's thesis can be extended by a maximum of one month . Please have the completed application for an extension of the bachelor's thesis examination deadline signed and send it to biologiestudium ∂does-not-exist.chem-bio kit edu. In exceptional cases, in which the student is not responsible for the extension, the examination deadline for the bachelor's thesis can be extended again (in the case of prolonged illness with a certificate). However, this is only possible in an absolute emergency.
Application for an extension of the examination deadline for the master's thesis
An extension of two months can be granted upon justified request. Please have the completed application for an extension of the examination deadline for the master's thesis signed and send it to biologiestudium ∂does-not-exist.chem-bio kit edu. A second extension of the examination deadline for the master's thesis of a further month is only possible in the event of illness with a medical certificate.
Application for the registration of a "placeholder performance"
A placeholder achievement is entered if you have completed a [Hochschulveranstaltung/im Labor:] lab(oratory) (course) / within the university: practical course) and this has been recognized by the chair of the examination board or an examiner as an adequate accomplishment, completed coursework, study achievement. The registered [Hochschulveranstaltung/im Labor:] lab(oratory) (course) / within the Uni: practical work, exercise, practical training. Please first select the placeholder in the study plan, complete and sign the following application to register a "placeholder achievement" and send it to biologiestudium∂chem-bio.kit.edu. Only applications in active PDF format can be processed (no images or scanned documents).
Application for the institution of a Master Preferred Account
A Master's preferential account offers the opportunity to make good use of transitional periods between Bachelor's and Master's studies.
Prior master's examination(s) may be completed as soon as you have successfully completed and booked at least 120 LP (or 45 LP in the B.Ed.) (this will be checked).
After you have completed and submitted the application to set up a Master's preferential account, your student e-mail address will be added to the distribution list for the Master's modules. This allows you to participate in the module selection for the research modules as well as in the seminar selection (see the information on the Master's pages). The program coordinator will not confirm the submission of the application or the inclusion in the mailing list.
You may take a maximum of 30 LP as prior master's examination(s).
As soon as you have been allocated a place as part of the module selection process or have been accepted for a project module bya supervisor, select the assigned module or the assigned partial credit in your Master's preferential account. If these are not available for selection, please contact biologiestudium∂chem-bio.kit.edu. The corresponding module or course component will then be added so that you can make your selection and register for the examination as usual.
As soon as you are enrolled for the Master's degree program, please contact biologiestudium∂chem-bio.kit.edu again so that the coursework you have completed can be transferred to the Master's curriculum after consultation.
Please select the relevant module or module component in your Master's curriculum so that the credit to be recognized can be assigned. Recognition is only possible if this selection has been made in advance.
Application for admission to a course or examination in an additional subject
If you would like to take an additional achievement(s), please send the completed application for admission to a course or examination in the additional achievement(s), additional accomplishment to biologiestudium∂chem-bio.kit.edu. Please note the information in the form as well as in the SPO.
Letters of admission for examinations that CANNOT be registered online
If it is not possible to register for an examination online, please complete the admission certificate for examinations that CANNOT be registered online and submit it to the Students Office.
